Testimonials:

Consider this thought-provoking quote by William Arthur Ward.
"The mediocre teacher tells.  The good teacher explains.  The
superior teacher demonstrates.  The great teacher inspires."
Let's add, "The greatest teacher of all prays!"

Sherry DeBray has written a fabulous book entitled The Teacher's Gift.   Inspired by a true story, this book is a breath of fresh air for your heart and soul.  Tommy Cauthen's warm and inviting illustrations create an intimate setting.  On the book cover, sand is flowing from one hand to another, prompting you to wonder, "Hmmm, what's that about?"  The story takes place just before Christmas.  An old woman with sparkling eyes enters a quaint gift shop admiring the Christmas tree in the store window.  The shopkeeper shows her a hand-painted ornament.  "No, thank you," she says politely.  "I have many ornaments that are hand-painted also," she chuckles softly, as if she has a secret! A secret, indeed!  Sherry DeBray's excellent storytelling invites you to pull up a chair and enjoy a cup of coffee with the tender-hearted shopkeeper and the endearing old woman (a retired teacher!).  You will fall in love with this delightful teacher as she reveals the "secret" of her extraordinary Christmas tree ornaments.  Between sips of coffee, you will savor every detail of the teacher's incredible dream that inspired her to make "pearls¨ of her students.  (I put on a string of pearls while reading. Try it.  You'll like it!)  What a phenomenal way to view a teacher's influence.  Most of all, this book inspired me to consider the POWER of PRAYER!  Sadly, our children don't have the privilege of praying aloud in public schools anymore.  What a comfort to realize our teachers can still CHOOSE to pray for their students!  My heart skips a beat as I dare to ask the question, "Which teacher has been praying for me?"  Sherry DeBray, from Montgomery, Alabama, self-published this book because she hopes to encourage teachers everywhere to step out from behind their desks and pray for their students, creating pearls for the future, bringing glory to God!  I am a Christian speaker, teacher, writer, and mother of three precious "pearls", planning to use my sphere of influence to spread the word about this life-altering book!

"The persistent, perpetual prayer of a pearl-making prayer-warrior is praiseworthy and powerful!" (James 5:16, loosely paraphrased)

Sherry,

I am a teacher and I want to thank you for writing The Teacher's Gift. I pray for my students also, and call them by name, like the teacher in the book. Thank you for writing such a heart warming Christmas story. I am sure the book will touch many hearts.
What a wonderful gift for anyone.

Hi Sherry,

I wanted you to know I read your book to my class today and they really enjoyed it. They asked me...Miss Harter, do you really pray for us all the time?
That's when I said, I sure do...all the time.
I hope it at least planted a little seed in their hearts at such a young age.
Thank you again for writing the Teacher's Gift. We love it!
